Monday 5th October 2020: Open House Dublin (OHD 2020) is Ireland’s largest architecture festival, organised by the Irish Architecture Foundation. This year John Sisk & Son is the Corporate Partner of OHD2020 and we are delighted to be supporting this unique event which showcases great architecture and buildings in Dublin. Covid-19 restrictions means a lot of the festival is happening online and Sisk will be playing its part with a social media campaign linking to some of the iconic buildings we have delivered over the years in Dublin, linking to the broader promotion that OHD2020 will be doing through their channels. We will pick up on some of the stories we promoted last year to mark the 160 years of John Sisk & Son and it is an important reminder for all of us in construction of the part we play in building the history and fabric of our cities and communities.
At Sisk we have a proud legacy of bringing to life some of Dublin’s iconic buildings and we continue to deliver landmarks such as The Aviva Stadium, The Convention Centre Dublin and indeed vital infrastructure projects for the city such as Luas Cross City. We have also been involved in some ground breaking social housing projects such as the award winning George’s Place development in Dun Laoghaire.
Open House Dublin is the flagship event of The Irish Architecture Foundation and has been connecting people to architecture for fifteen years. Their belief is that empowering people with knowledge about the impact of good design will ensure our built environment always improves and becomes a liveable and vibrant place now and in the future. Open House Dublin is part of the Open House Worldwide Family, connected to 48 cities, who collectively have become a global force for public engagement in architecture.
This year we are all more aware of how people have engaged with and viewed their everyday surroundings, their homes, works spaces and their outdoors. Many of us have rediscovered our communities and neighbourhoods and uncovered the extraordinary in the everyday.
With a programme more diverse than ever an unprecedented Open House Dublin is as the organisers describe it “a treasure trove of content that marks a moment in time, in a year like no other.”
