Great Ormond Street signs PCSA with Sisk

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust and Sisk announce PCSA

11th January 2019: Sisk has been working with Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) since September 2017 as part of a design competition for the next phase of the redevelopment of the Hospital. The design brief for the competition was created in partnership with staff, patients and families and articulated their shared aspiration for a building to express the GOSH guiding principle: the Child First and Always.

The project will deliver a new clinical building on Great Ormond Street in central London which will become the hospital’s new ‘front door’, replacing outdated facilities with a high quality environment consistent with the hospital’s world-renowned paediatric care and research activities. It will include a new Children’s Cancer Centre scheme of approximately 16,000m² with a construction budget of £149m for the project.

Commenting on this significant milestone in the project Stephanie Williams, Redevelopment Director at Great Ormond Street Hospital said: “Once completed, the next stage of our redevelopment programme will enable us to work at an even faster pace to improve outcomes for children with rare and difficult-to-treat cancers.  It represents an important milestone in GOSH’s redevelopment plans and we are delighted to be working with John Sisk & Son to redevelop the frontage of the hospital on Great Ormond Street and deliver a new Children’s Cancer Centre which will enable outstanding specialised healthcare for children and young people”.

The PCSA commenced on 4 November 2019 and will run for 131 weeks through to May 2022.

The design team includes BDP, Turley Associates, McBains and MTS Health and the PCSA will enable the team to develop the detailed plans and budget to ensure delivery of this much needed facility.
